Brick — Long Beach’s signature wall

Nowhere in our area do we mount into brick as often as here: the Art Deco towers of the twenties, the converted warehouses of East Village, the Pine Avenue lofts. Brick is an excellent TV wall when the work is done right:

In the high-rises — the freight elevator and a slot from management: we arrange it ourselves.

The city’s other walls

The Craftsmans of Rose Park and Bluff Heights are lath: an anchor rips out with the plaster, so we mount only into detector-found studs.

The post-war districts and Los Altos are standard drywall: an hour, and done.

Rentals (half the city): minimal holes, all into studs, spackle at move-out. Moving within the city — down and up in one trip.

Belmont Shore and Naples: loggias and verandas by the water get stainless hardware — the breeze sharpens itself on the ordinary kind. Canal houses we reach on foot — as with all the furniture.

Lath. We remount into studs and patch the wall’s wound.

Two to four holes into studs, spackle at move-out — the deposit survives.

A TV on a canal-side veranda.
