Hanging in Bungalow Heaven is close to restoration work
A historic district of Craftsmans — hundreds of houses past their century, with owners who know every board. We hang here the way the house itself asks:
- Studs only — behind the plaster is lath, and an anchor in it holds until the first load. We find studs with a detector, corrected for the false positives old walls love.
- One hole instead of three — laser layout before drilling. In a landmark house every extra hole is a scar.
- Respect for the moldings. Many old homes still have their picture rails — the historic hanging strips. If yours are alive, we use them: hooks and cables, zero drilling. The gentlest method there is, and the native one for these houses.
Tall walls, big possibilities. Ceilings of 9–10 feet allow two- and three-row galleries and large canvases over the sofa. We lay the composition out on the floor, agree on it, and transfer it by markup.
Mirrors. A full-length mirror or one above a fireplace in an old house goes up with two people, into studs, on rated hardware. Anything over 50 pounds is a structural fixing — no compromises.
Frequently asked questions
We have a picture rail around the whole living room — does it still work?
Most likely yes, and it is the best option: hooks and cables, zero holes. We check its strength and hang from it.
A family photo gallery along the stairs.
Classic old Pasadena: layout on the incline, even intervals, stud mounting. Flat price for 6–15 frames.
A heavy mirror above the fireplace.
We will see what the wall behind the plaster is. Two people, rated hardware — or an honest verdict that this mirror needs a different wall.
The house is historic — I do not want extra holes.
Neither do we. Millimeter layout, minimal holes — or the picture rail, if you have one.
