A screening room at home — here that is serious
Radford’s editors, colorists and producers watch at home what they make at work — and the requirements match:
- Big screens: 65–85 inches with two people, mounting into two or three studs, the bracket rated to the weight. A panel someone checks color on cannot hang "roughly level" — level before and after.
- Cables into a raceway or behind the wall: a clean wall, no garlands.
- Sound: soundbars and equipment shelves in the same visit, loads calculated (amplifiers are heavier than they look).
- Height: screen center at eye level from the sofa — in a screening room that is not taste, it is the ergonomics of a two-hour watch.
Walls: the flats and Colfax Meadows are standard drywall — quick. Townhouses put the media zone on the middle floors — routine. In the canyons we will carry the panel up the stairs (a 75-inch box is not a solo job) and mount it; in older hillside homes we verify studs with a detector.
Rentals along Ventura: minimal holes, into studs, spackle at move-out.
