The San Marino estates of the 1920s–40s are kept across generations, and we work accordingly:
- Parquet covered before the first box — carry routes under cardboard and cloth, tools on padding, shoe covers on.
- Lath behind the plaster — wardrobes and dressers anchor only into detector-found studs: pre-war stud spacing wanders.
- Floors with a century of settling — cabinets shimmed to level: doors will close the way they were designed to.
- Quiet and on time — we work with the owners or the housekeeper present, photo report on request, packaging gone down to the last strip of tape.
Libraries are the defining genre of the Huntington Library’s city: bookcases get the back panel nailed around the perimeter and a stud anchor (an 80-by-12-inch shelf loaded with volumes is the most tip-prone piece of furniture there is), heavy sets to the bottom. Tall ceilings allow full-height cases — a rare luxury.
