WeHo apartments are small, especially in the 1920s–30s courtyard buildings, and furniture here gets chosen cleverly:
- Murphy beds — a studio near Santa Monica Blvd is their natural habitat. Measurement is mandatory: a ceiling of 94 inches and up, and a wall with studs for anchoring (the cabinet carries 150–250 pounds). In lath buildings this is strictly work for those who know — that is us.
- Convertibles, futons, trundle daybeds — with a check that the trundle has somewhere to roll.
- Doorways before you buy: old-building doors are narrower than modern ones. A photo and the opening width, and we will tell you for free whether the sofa makes it.
Vintage from Melrose — assembly without manuals, rare hardware: the "Something else" position, photo → price → careful work.
