From an Uptown antique shop to an East Whittier ranch
The old town. The Craftsmans and Victorians around Uptown get assembled by century-house rules: lath (anchoring only into studs), settled floors (cabinets leveled), minimal drilling. The Uptown antique shops feed us furniture with a history — disassembled 1940s dressers, sideboards without manuals: the "Something else" position, photo → price → gentle assembly that respects old hardware.
The East Whittier ranches have standard walls and level floors: a bedroom per visit, fast and predictable.
The hills — Friendly Hills, Whittier Hills: uphill carries (tell us about the steps) and cabinets leveled with shims.
The memory of ’87 — Whittier Narrows shook right here: everything tall gets anchored always (free), and we offer the anchor-everything visit — a walk through the house securing whatever stands "on its word of honor". In lath houses, doing that right is harder than it looks.
