- Century walls are lath: studs only (detector plus practiced reading of false positives), one drill per point; picture rails, where they survive, we use — hanging with no drilling at all.
- Antique frames and mirrors get their hangers inspected before mounting (century-old hooks and wire are not to be trusted), reinforced, and fixed gently; cast-frame mirrors go up with two people, structurally.
