That suits us — we are the same. A dresser with drawers aligned to the millimeter, a sliding wardrobe whose doors stay put, a powered desk run through its full cycle — come check with a level; we do not mind.
As in any engineering town, the most common request is not "assemble everything" but "assemble the hard things": sliding wardrobes, Murphy beds, big wall units. And the second one is "no time": a bedroom in one visit while the family is at work and school.
A city on a slope
La Cañada sits in the foothills entirely: nearly every address means a sloped driveway, a terraced lot, stairs to the door. What that means for furniture:
- Floors with settling — hillside houses sink for decades, and casework without leveling does not work: doors swing open, sliding doors roll away. Shims are a mandatory part of assembly.
- Uphill carries — delivery often leaves the boxes by the garage at the bottom. We will bring them up: tell us in the request how many steps, and we arrive as a pair.
- Oaks in the yards — they are protected here, and patio zones are built around the trees: we assemble and place outdoor furniture with roots and shade in mind, and umbrellas get anchored against the canyon wind.

The schools bring families here, and the kids’ classics are a constant genre: bunk beds with every bolt torqued, cribs by the manual, dressers with the anti-tip strap — always, at no charge. The foothills remember their earthquakes: everything tall gets anchored to the wall, and in a hillside house that matters twice over.
